ABCA Books delivered to Lesotho

After many months of red tape, transportation issues, floods and school closures ABCA books finally arrived in Lesotho.

Nomvuyo Mzamane who originally contacted us requesting books describes the journey:

The books were delivered at the nearest institution to the school - the Assumption Mission House in Teyateyaneng. That's because Lesotho experienced floods the Thursday and Friday we were there. Schools even had to close otherwise drownings sadly occur. We tried both days to deliver, but even in a 4-wheel drive bakkie truck, the mud and deep pools of water did not allow the car's movement. On the second day villagers suggested they carry the boxes and wade through the water but we refused to risk their safety.

My aunt who lives an hour away in Free State arranged with her family priest at the nearby church to house them there. During the week of 18 May, she will go there and take the books from the mission to the school. Members of the church said they would also go. It ended up being a nice community moment. We had taken boxes from you and those we ourselves had gathered.

The children were so enamoured with the books that we left each pumpkin pie with one book each.

We are looking forward to hearing about the final leg of delivery.
