South African Airways support ABCA
Every year South African Airways (SAA) marks Nelson Mandela Day (July 18) globally through community service and staff volunteerism supporting education and anti-poverty initiatives.
This year SAA chose to support ABCA by holding a fund-raiser morning tea at the office of The Walshe Group, South African Airways' General Sales Agent for Australia and New Zealand.
From SAA’s Facebook:
Our teams across the globe came together in the true spirit of Nelson Mandela Day, giving their time, compassion and support to beneficiaries in need.
From collecting donations to lending a helping hand, every contribution reflects a commitment to making a meaningful difference.
Every act of kindness has the power to take someone further.

From September/October 2026 issue of Sawubona SAA Magazine:
Despite being located on a different continent from SAA’s headquarters, South African Airways staff in Australia embraced the spirit of Mandela Day and found their own meaningful way to give back to the community. The team hosted a morning tea in support of Australian Books for Children of Africa (ABCA), highlighting the importance of education, a cause that was close to Madiba’s heart and central to his vision for a better future. The initiative also provided an opportunity to support ABCA’s efforts to make books and educational resources more accessible to children.
