Tongogara Primary School -Zimbabwe
ABCA books were delivered to Tongogara Primary School by Pastor Alex Dewa.
This is the only school in the area, and it has one open structure divided into two classrooms, with a third classroom situated outside in the open. When it rains, they have to close the school. The kids sit on the floor or on makeshift stools or chairs they brought from home. And there is no water! The dedication of these teachers is unbelievable as they try and change these kids’ lives through education.
From Pastor Alex Dewa:
We delivered the books to Tongogara Primary School, a satellite school located in a deeply under-served mining community in Mount Darwin, Zimbabwe. The name ‘Tongogara’ in the local Shona language means ‘we are just living without hope, we are forgotten people’.
This school serves a population where 90% of the children don’t attend school regularly largely because their parents are involved in illegal mining and lack understanding of the value of education. The area has no proper school infrastructure and poverty is at its highest.
The teachers, parents, and entire community were overwhelmed with joy and gratitude for the book donation. For many, it was the first sign of hope in a long time, a spark toward changing the mindset and future of these children. Thank you again for making this impact possible.
